In 2023, Salmon Valley Stewardship and local partners including the Lemhi County Economic Development Association, Custer Economic Development Association, The Wilderness Society, and Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership worked to apply for and secure a USDA Rural Development grant. This grant supported the creation of a wayfinding plan, which evolved from ongoing discussions within the SC Trails Group. The plan builds upon existing efforts by community partners regarding wayfinding, community design, and trail development. The plan provides design guidance and recommended locations for several different wayfinding signs in both the cities of Salmon and Challis.
