Highway 93 South Trail - A long time coming

The Highway 93 Trail project has been in the works since 2015. At that time, Lemhi County completed a comprehensive Trails Feasibility Study and was shortly thereafter awarded a construction grant for the trail through the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) Federal Lands Access Program (FLAP).

About the Trail

Community members can walk, bike, or run along the paved 5-mile trail, connecting Salmon at Kid’s Creek Park to the Bureau of Land Management’s Shoup Bridge Recreation Site for recreation access, or as an alternate, non-motorized form of travel along Highway 93 south of Salmon. Both the Kid’s Creek Trailhead and Shoup Bridge campground have existing parking and restroom facilities, and the BLM has worked to expand Shoup Bridge Recreation Site, making improvements to restrooms, parking, bicycle facilities, and trail network signage in anticipation of increased use along this new trail.

Friends of the pathway

This volunteer program allows individuals, families, and organizations to “adopt” a 1/2 mile section of the trail and volunteer to pick up litter, remove debris, and monitor the trail’s conditions throughout the year.
